The operational principles of a crane
The working principle of the crane is mainly based on the principle of mechanics and mechanical transmission, through a series of mechanisms and components work together to achieve the lifting, moving and lowering of heavy objects.
Common crane types, such as tower cranes, gantry cranes, truck cranes, etc., have some common characteristics in their working principle:
The first is the power system, which supplies the crane with energy. Usually an internal combustion engine or an electric motor, which converts energy into mechanical energy.
The lifting mechanism is one of the core parts of the crane. It uses a reel and wire rope to achieve the lifting and lowering of heavy objects. The reel is driven by an electric motor or other power device to rotate, wind or release the wire rope, so that the hook connected to the end of the wire rope rises or falls.
In the lifting process, the steel structure of the crane plays the role of support and load, ensuring the stability and strength of the entire equipment.
In order to achieve the movement of heavy objects in the horizontal direction, the crane is also equipped with a running mechanism. For example, the gantry crane's large carriage mechanism allows the crane to move laterally along the track, while the tower crane's boom rotation mechanism allows the boom to rotate around the tower.
In addition, the crane is also equipped with a variety of braking devices and safety protection devices. The brake device is used to brake quickly when it stops working, ensuring that heavy objects do not fall accidentally. Safety protection devices such as limiters, overload protectors, etc., are used to prevent the crane from exceeding its designed working range and carrying capacity to ensure the safety of operation.
Take the tower crane as an example, when it is necessary to lift heavy objects, the motor drives the hoisting drum to rotate, rewind the wire rope, and the hook rises to lift the heavy objects. Then through the rotation of the boom and the rotation of the tower body, the weight is lifted to the designated position, and then the steel wire rope is released through the reel, so that the hook is lowered to put the weight down.
Another example is the truck crane, which stabilizes the body through the legs, and then uses the expansion and amplitude of the boom and the lifting mechanism to complete the lifting of heavy objects.
In short, the working principle of the crane is to provide power through the power system, through the transmission system to the lifting mechanism and the operating mechanism, to achieve the vertical and horizontal movement of heavy objects, while relying on steel structure and safety devices to ensure the safety and stability of the operation
